For all homeowners with a public sewer system. The waste pipe from the home to the municipality’s sewer is the responsibility of the homeowner. During a sewer scope inspection, we remove a cleanout in the front yard or basement if accessible, then use our sewer camera to record and inspect the inside of the waste piping for proper pitch and integrity. Damage can occur from the settlement, tree root invasion, or a pipe collapse. Repair involves excavating the property to have the pipe repaired or replaced. Most of the time this is a five-figure repair, which is typically not covered by a standard homeowner insurance policy.  Many local townships are now making this a requirement during real estate transactions. Whether it’s required or not, it is definitely a recommended service for our clients!
